Sesame Street as a device of torture? Yup, it seems that Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib prisoners were subjected to endless repetitions -- played loudly -- of songs, including those from Sesame Street.
Here's one online report, with a cute (suitably "threatening") pic too!

I guess it leaves me, as a parent, to proffer my apologies to my two girls -- now grown and married -- for subjecting them to the "torture" of having to watch endless video-taped repeats of Sesame Street and Electric Company.
But... wait a minute! I think it was the other way around. We, the parents had to video-tape the programmes at their insistence. And they liked watching the episodes ad nauseum, with the TV volume turned on loud.
Yes, I suffered from "Shaken Parent Syndrome".
And one particular Electric Company song, Whimper and Whine, was "requested" (no, demanded!) by the guilty one over and over again, so much so that I can never shake off the tune, ever.

So, girls, say sorry when you've seen this blog entry.

Anyway, if a whimpering, whinny torture device is ever needed, for whatever occasion, here's my recommendation...

sorry dad... =)
ReplyDeleteMe too can't shake that tune off!
ReplyDeleteWe are now coming close to the age where WE have to decide who's "Whimper" and who's "Whine", LOL!
