Saw the Ken Kwek-directed movie today. Didn't know that there's no pre-5pm discount for seniors in the case of indie films, so it was ten bucks a ticket -- $20 for the two of us.
But it was worth every dollar. Scripting was tight and the satire and irony in all three episodes so cheekily nuanced; directing was superb; and the acting first-class. Adrian Pang as the shoestring "porn movie maker" in the Porn Masala episode was so deadpanned hilarious!

Across the Causeway, everyone's waiting for Prime Minister Najib to call the country's long-awaited general election. Poor man, he was building up to it, handing out goodies, and then the crisis in Sabah state erupted! But, seriously, what happens in Malaysia in terms of its political stability impacts Singapore.
Singapore-based Malaysian academic Ooi Kee Beng wrote a very trenchant op-ed piece in ST (Mar 15), headlined "Don't let bad politics thwart good policies". Here's the concluding excerpt:
