Flag flak, a blooper quiz, and The Way We Were...

More on flag flak

The non-ASEAN flag in the CIMB ad, in yesterday's posting, is that of Taiwan's!

Meanwhile, I don't know why this - rather unpatriotic? -- ad below has to choose blue for the top half of the Singapore flag...

This ad below urges shoppers to be super-patriotic...

I'm still on a hunt for bloopers, so here's...

A short "pictorial" quiz for the sharp-eyed

1) What's not quite right here?

2) This one?

3) Last one...

The Way We Were

Finally, my tribute to the composer Marvin Hamlisch, who has died. He wrote and arranged the Barbra Streisand evergreen, The Way We Were. The memoriam article below includes a video of Streisand's rendition of the song:

Postscript

Oh yes, the answers to the quiz above:

1) It should be the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS [Note: There are non-Singaporean media and commentators who insist on using "Kwan" but this is a local ad here!]

2) Big bad blooper! 0 for gold, 0 for silver, 0 for bronze but 2 for medal haul! How does it add up?

3) This might be a bit tricky. Maybe a warm-up first. In the Singapore traffic lights set-up. when the traffic light post is vertical, how are the three colours arranged? Here's the answer:

Yup, both the actual traffic light post and the "traffic light ahead" sign will show this order -- red on top, amber, and green below (memory hint: green = ground). Check them out if you don't believe me. So, the person who put up that sign I used for the quiz screwed up.

What about the horizontal traffic lights (again, for Singapore; the set-up may be different elsewhere)? Here's the sign:

Again, go check them out yourself. I have a memory hint for this one too: Red = right-hand side.
