Don't take life so seriously, hor; let it make a Mickey out of you even!

I had, tongue in cheek, blogged about this poor chap in China who was faced with the dilemma of saving either his mother or his wife. Luckily for him, he ended up saving both of them. But because he helped his wife first, he nearly lost his mum.

ST Life! ran a series of letters recently on this issue...

I like the letter by Wilson Tang best: "I say save your mother first, no matter what. Then jump back in to perish with your wife. It will show that you are filial to your mother and also that you love your wife so much that you are willing to die with her."

Meanwhile, when I saw this ad of the launch of the Disney Institute here, with all those caps from THAT famous cartoon character, a thought occurred to me...

A catchy but of course totally wacky tag-line would be: "Join us, and we'll make a Mickey out of you!" While it turns the idiom upside down in the spirit of good fun, it should not be seen as derisive. In any case, only Andy Warhol can make a Mickey (Minnie?) out of Marilyn Monroe and still make her look good!...

Finally, a fun ST Punchlines cartoon that takes a dig at a hot-button issue in Singapore to wrap up...
